Rhinos 1.Great Indian rhinoceroses eat mainly grass, as well as branches of shrubs and trees, crops in farmland, fruits, and leaves. 2.Of the five living rhinoceros species, the white rhino is the largest, weighing up to about 8,000 pounds (3,629 kilograms). 3.The word “rhinoceros” comes from two ancient Greek words. “Rhino” means nose, and “ceros” means horn. 4.Rhinoceroses may have one or two horns depending on the species. 5.There are five species of rhinoceros: black, white, Javan, great Indian, and Sumatran. |
